College kids invent life-saving tool for Firefighters

The invention of three University of Wisconsin-Madison engineering students, Nick O’Brien, Mitchell Nick and Chandler Nault, that was submitted to the annual Schoof’s Prize for Creativity, could be a major turning point for enhancing safety standards for firefighters today.

Firesite, as they’ve dubbed it, is a navigational system that helps firefighters navigate through burning, smoke-filled structures by aiding them in identifying their current location. Firesite is now being treated as a marketable product that has the power to save the lives of  firefighters and fire victims more effectively.

Today, FireSite is a patent pending technology, with an eye on the huge market potential extended by over 32,000 fire departments throughout the U.S.

FireSite today enjoys the support of Ayla Annac, southwest regional director for the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Network who aids them in hunting for additional funds through loans and grants to channel their opportunity in the right direction.

Fighting the setbacks extended by the challenges of their tender age, the team is all set to tide over these obstacles in order to bring their innovative lifesaving product into the mainstream market.
