How to get more ReTweets

For any Twitter marketing campaign, “retweets” or RT for short, are the key to spreading your message far and wide on Twitter. A retweet is a reposting of an original tweet with the abbreviation RT and @username of the originator of the tweet added to give credit.

Retweets can create a snowball effect when your followers retweet your post, then their followers retweet the same message, and their followers retweet it, etc. But not just any tweet gets retweeted though. People usually retweet messages, links and photos that they find interesting, humourous, useful or cool. So the first tip for getting retweets is to be interesting. Another good way to get retweets is to just ask for it! Add “please RT” to your tweet and you just might be able to start the snowball. Note that your message should not take up all 140 characters if you want it to be quickly retweeted. If there’s no space for RT @username some users just can’t bother with editing before retweeting and your message won’t get passed on.
